Giving Back to the Community

The Business Bank believes in giving back to the community. The Business Bank Community Fund at the Northern Virginia Community Foundation supports local charities and organizations including Larry King Cardiac Foundation, George Mason University, The Potomac Conservancy, The Center for Multicultural Family Services, the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, college scholarships for needy families and the arts in Northern Virginia.

Annual Lori Davis Golf Classic

The Business Bank’s Lori Davis Golf Classic is held annually in May. The funds benefit the Bank’s Community Fund at the Community Foundation of Northern Virginia, supporting local charities and organizations.

In 2010, The Business Bank renamed its golf tournament the “Lori Davis Golf Classic” in honor of our friend and coworker, Lori Lynn Davis. Lori lost her battle with breast cancer in September 2009. She was truly an inspiration to us all as she faced breast cancer with courage and determination. Her hard work and dedication had been the driving force behind our golf tournament.

The Business Bank Annual Food Drive

Each year, two weeks before Thanksgiving The Business Bank holds their annual food drive benefitting Food for Others.

Food for Others, is the largest distributor of free food directly to people in need in Northern Virginia. They provide the assistance vitally needed by our unemployed and low-income neighbors. They provide a safety net for people who suddenly face unforeseen emergencies such as a family illness or the loss of a job or a spouse.

Even though Northern Virginia is considered one of the wealthiest jurisdictions in the country, we still face a poverty rate of about 5%. This means, based on U.S. Census figures, that more than 90,000 people are living in poverty and 30 percent are children.
